Moving to Idaho Falls

Stacia and I decided to start our new hobby store in Idaho Falls.  We looked at a few other places like Centerville in Utah, but decided that Idaho Falls met our needs better and after doing some market research we also discovered that there really wasn’t much in the way of a hobby stores in the area.  The only real competition in the Idaho Falls area was a store called Dapco Hobbies.  Everyone that we talked to either hadn’t heard of the store and the ones that had, hated it.

Some of the reasons we decided on Idaho Falls:

  • Lack of competition
  • Cheaper home prices
  • Cheaper land prices
  • Stacia and I have both  lived in Idaho Falls and we know the area
  • (Hopefully) less crimes and drugs than most areas, so Talon can have a nice place to grow up

Anyway, we decided that Idaho Falls was the place for us.

We finally got the house sold, signed the agreement with HobbyTown corporate and it was finally time to move. I thought that it wasn’t going to be hard to move, but I has shocked when all was said and done how much stuff we had packed in that house!  Like I said in a previous post, took us a 26′ truck, 1/2 of another one and everything we could possibly stuff in the Jimmy.  What a nightmare!  After we finished up and left the house in Boise for the last time, I thought I was going to die because I was so tired.  We had to meet the moving truck the next morning so they could unload it into the storage units we had rented. (We rented two, but ended up renting another one because there was so much stuff).  Anyway, Stacia and I decided that we were going to stop about Burley or Rupert and rent a room for the night, get up early and finish the trek to Idaho Falls.  We stopped at Burley, Rupert and Pocatello and every hotel was fully booked!  We ended up making the entire trek to Idaho Falls that night, pulling into town about 2:00 AM. Talk about dead tired!
