Rotorootering

Not to get to graphic, but I have an enlarged prostate that has been causing me to have to get up frequently to pee.  So after a couple of times where I had blood in my urine, I had one occation where the clots in my pee clogged up my urethra and I ended up going to the E.R. because I was afraid my bladder might burst.  Anyway after that visit we went to the Urologist.  He did a camera up the urethra to check for bladder cancer and the CT Scan that was done at the E.R. showed that I had an enlarged prostate that was cutting off the stream of the bladder.  One of the procedures was to do what the Urologist called a Roto-Rootering. (Officially called a T.E.R.P, I forget what it stands for)  Anyway, today was the day for the Roto-Rootering.  This involves them putting you under Anesthesia and shoving the Roto-Rooter tool up the urethra and basically clearing out the prostate from the urine canal. Over all it wasn’t to bad, got up at 4:30AM and were at the surgical center at 6AM.  Turns out the Surgical center was only about 10 minutes from our house, especially for early morning traffic.  We were all done by 11:30AM and back at home.  I will have a catheter for around a week while it heals.  Already doing better, I’ve gone from producing Mt. Dew Code Red to Strawberry lemonaide! 🙂

The people at the surgery center were great and were even nice enough to play some Three Days Grace while they were getting ready for surgery, right before they put me to sleep!
