Back in the ’80s, my Dad decided to build a camper for our F-150 since we did a lot of camping and we had a family of 8.\u00a0 My Dad who was a pretty handy guy built the camper out of tube steel that he welded together and then attached plywood to it.\u00a0 It was definitely sturdy, but also weighed an almost literal ton! I remember him breaking one of the jacks while trying go get it into the truck bed! We did use it for several years before it was decommissioned.<\/p>\n
All that being said, I was driving the truck one day (with the camper on it) and passed a few of my friends.\u00a0 Being the smart guy that I am, I decided to show off and do a burn out.\u00a0 Needless to say, I revved up the engine and popped the clutch and bang, dropped the transmission!\u00a0 About a half hour later, my Dad came looking for me and then helped me tow the truck back to the house (I was only about 3 block away).\u00a0 Needless to say he was a bit angry and disappointed about my poor decision making skills!<\/p>\n
My Dad told me that I wasn’t allowed to drive the truck again until I paid for the repair.\u00a0 My older brother Layne and my Dad fixed the transmission.\u00a0 As luck would have it, a couple of days later I got my income tax return and paid my Mom for the parts (luckily my Dad didn’t charge me labor) and took off in the truck.\u00a0 On the way to where ever I was going, I managed to pass my Dad and he stopped and said, “I TOLD YOU THAT YOU WEREN’T ALLOWED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK UNTIL YOU PAID FOR THE REPAIR!”.\u00a0 I told him that I got my income tax return and Mom had the money.\u00a0 He huffed and drove off.\u00a0 I don’t think that punishment worked out like he wanted it to!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
