Mom and Dad had lent me the truck and I was driving around with my friends (I can’t remember why I had borrowed the truck and where I was going) I was over by Brian Dereden’s house when I decided it would be fun to burn some rubber and show off for my friends. Note: This is where you need to stop and read the story about the camper. So I stop the truck, rev it up to about 4 or 5000 RPMs and then pop the clutch and instead of burning rubber the truck goes CHA-CHUNK! and doesn’t move. To make matters worse, no matter what I tried the truck wasn’t moving! After about 10-15 minutes of sitting in the middle of the road Dad shows up looking for me. I told him the story of what happened and somehow (I don’t remember how, Mom may have to fill in that part) Dad got the truck home. After taking a look at it the next day, it turns out that I broke the motor mounts on the truck. I guess that is what I get for trying to do a burn out with a 2 ton camper on the back of the truck!<\/p>\n
Well, for punishment Dad tells me that I can’t drive the truck until I pay for the parts to get the truck fixed. (He probably should have charged me for labor also, but he didn’t) If I remember correctly, it was like $125 for the new motor mounts. I’m sure with my current employment status Dad thought he had stopped me from borrowing the truck for some time. As luck would have it, about 2 or 3 days later, what should I get in the mail? Yep, I got my income tax refund. I think it was about $300, so I paid Mom the money for the truck and asked to borrow the truck. As I was driving off to where ever I was going, I passed Dad on his way home from work in the company truck. We both stop and Dad says “I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU YOU WEREN’T SUPPOSE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK UNTIL YOU PAID FOR THE PARTS TO GET IT FIXED!!” I told him that I had gotten my income tax refund and had given the money to mom for the parts. He got kind of a mad look on his face, but mostly it was more like “Dang, that didn’t quite work out as I had hoped”. He said, “OK” and off I went.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
